We have a report that people are receiving telephone calls from someone claiming to be from the credit union. They are asking for card number, expiration date, PIN number, etc. NEVER GIVE THAT INFORMATION OUT TO SOMEONE CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE CREDIT UNION. We will never call asking for that kind of information. These callers are just calling people at random. Your Money Is Safe Shares at Community Plus Federal Credit Union are insured for up to $250,000 by an agency of the U.S. Government, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). This applies to every joint owner on an account, so a husband and wife joint on an account would have $500,000 coverage. In addition, IRAs are insured up to $250,000 separately. Financial markets are in a turmoil world-wide. You can rest assured that your credit union is safe and sound. It did not invest in any of those risky mortgages or complex financial instruments. What the credit union has invested in is bringing better service to its members. That is why we opened a branch in Champaign.
